Carlsbad TSD wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
As the year comes to a close, we would like to wish all of our students
a safe and happy holiday season. Our last class this year will be
Wednesday, December 15th. Classes will resume on Wednesday, January
5th 2011.

KJN runs first APTSDF clinic in Carlsbad!
Today, KJN St. James visited Carlsbad TSD and ran the first ever APTSDF
clinic on the west coast. The gup students at Carlsbad TSD are very
fortunate to have such personal access to KJN. He covered many advanced
topics, including:
- Moo Do philosophy and protocol.
- Breathing exercises.
- Chi exercises.
- Advanced aikido one-steps.
- Self-defense against the knife.
- 3-step sparring exercises
The attendees all finished the class with big smiles and got a glimpse of what
awaits them as they further their training in TSD! Again, many thanks to KJN
for taking the time out of his schedule to attend our school and teach this
personal clinic.

Carlsbad TSD switches to Wednesday nights, 7-8pm
Starting today, classes will only be held on Wednesday nights at 7pm.
We plan to go back to two classes a week in the near future, but for
now, there is only one class per week. Be sure to make the most of
it!

After four months of training, Carlsbad TSD held its first gup
test today. Congratulations to the following students for passing

Uniform pricing and class fees
I was able to find a great wholesale deal on uniforms, so I'm
pleased to announce that they will be available for $15 each.
This includes the uniform and flag patches.
The intro package is now $45, which includes the following items:
- Uniform
- Flag patches on shoulder
- Federation patch on chest
- Student handbook
- Lifetime membership in the APTSDF
While you are not required to be a member of the APTSDF to
participate in class, I would like to ask everyone to purchase
a uniform so that we can follow proper protocol in class. Jeans
and t-shirts are not proper attire for Tang Soo Do, and it is
important that everyone be in uniform.
The federation membership is required if you wish to test in
February. For those that decide not to test, that is fine, but
I will not be able to promote you to a different belt. Feel free
to contact me if you have any questions!

I'm sorry to report that class will not be starting today. We
need to take care of some paperwork before class can officially
begin; we're hoping that this can be resolved in the next week or
so. Please stay tuned, and we'll update the web page when we have
a confirmed date. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Stay focused on positive things!
In tough economic times, it's easy to notice all the negative
things happening around us. With bad news everywhere, such as
stores going out of business, people losing jobs, etc, it's hard
to keep our minds off of negative thoughts. We need to stay
focused on positive things to succeed. Whether you own a
business, have a job, own your home, etc, you need to look for
ways to succeed instead of thinking about the failures around you.
For every business that is closing, there are at least two more
that are succeeding. Focus on what they are doing to thrive,
instead of looking at the ones that are dying. A few tips to keep
in mind:
- Keep your eye on the ball. Stay focused on your goals,
whether you want to get a promotion, build your business,
etc.
- Maintain your daily success habits. If you've already been
successful, stick with what's working! Don't abandon good
habits if you already have them!
- Relationships are always #1. Don't forget that personal
relationships are even more important in tough times. Do
your best to build and maintain them!

Letter from the instructor - A new journey!
After studying Tang Soo Do for 8 years in Boston, I have decided to
start a new school here in Carlsbad to take my training to the
next level. My goal is to share the art that means so much to me
with as many of you as possible. I hope you will join me on this
journey together - it will be an adventure of a lifetime!
